Mike was recruited by Smoke Laval (NLU) and Jamey Shouppe (FSU) among others throughout the south.
Mike worked out with the Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, Arizona DiamondBacks, and the Atlanta Braves before moving to Texas to play in a Semi-Pro League.
Mike played for the Queen City Mudbugs (a wooden bat league) in Texarkana, TX. He held the lowest ERA and most strikeouts on the team in 1997 and 1998. Michael had a rotator cuff injury during his time with the Mudbugs and never fully recovered to move on to the Next Level.
Mike was an instructor at the Jay Berry Memorial Baseball Camp in Queen City Texas from 1996 - 1998.
Mike's pitching coach and personal mentor was George Stone. (see George’s bio below). He is now a baseball coach in Ruston, LA where he maintains a residence and continues to provide extensive knowledge of the game. Mike was also instructed and mentored for over 10 years by Dr. Clyde Berry (find Dr. Berry’s bio below). Throughout Mike’s career he was closely worked with on mechanics, fitness, and overall knowledge of the game by numerous major league baseball players and coaches as well as NCAA players and coaches.
